Ingredients
- 1 lb spaghetti
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic , minced
- 28 oz crushed tomatoes , canned
- 1/2 cup fresh basil , chopped
- salt and pepper , to taste
- 1/2 cup parmesan cheese , grated
Adds cheesy, umami flavor. Not for melting.
Works in: pasta, popcorn, sauces
Not for: pizza topping, grilled cheese
Instructions
- Cook pasta according to package directions. Reserve 1 cup pasta water before draining.
10 min - While pasta cooks, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
1 min - Add crushed tomatoes and simmer.
15 min - Toss drained pasta with sauce, adding pasta water if needed to loosen.
- Stir in fresh basil and season with salt and pepper.
- Serve topped with grated parmesan.
