Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Mom's Cookbook (the “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. By creating an account, you represent that you meet this age requirement. If you are under 18, you may need parental consent depending on your jurisdiction.
3. Account Responsibilities
When you create an account, you agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete information
- Maintain the security of your password
- Accept responsibility for all activities under your account
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use
4. User-Submitted Content
By submitting recipes, comments, ratings, or other content (“User Content”), you:
- Retain ownership of your original content
- Grant us a non-exclusive license to display, distribute, and include your content in RSS feeds and search results
- Confirm that you have the right to submit such content
- Accept that your content may appear in other users' collections and favorites
We will not, without your explicit consent:
- Include your content in commercial products for sale
- Sell or license your content to third parties
- Use your content for AI training purposes

5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Post content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, or defamatory
- Infringe on the intellectual property rights of others
- Submit spam, advertisements, or promotional material
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service
- Use automated systems to scrape or collect data
- Interfere with the proper functioning of the Service
6. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its design, code, and original content (excluding User Content), is owned by Mom's Cookbook and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.
Family recipes shared by the site owners are either All Rights Reserved or shared under a Creative Commons license as indicated on each recipe.
7. Copyright Complaints
If you believe content on our Service infringes your copyright, please contact us at copyright@momscookbook.ca with:
- A description of the copyrighted work
- The location of the allegedly infringing content
- Your contact information
- A statement that you have a good faith belief the use is not authorized
We aim to respond to valid takedown requests within 24-48 hours.
8. Account Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or engage in behavior that harms other users or the Service. You may also delete your account at any time from your account settings.
Upon account deletion, you may choose to keep your submitted recipes (attributed to “Community Contributor”) or have them deleted. Comments will be anonymized. See our Privacy Policy for data retention details.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that recipes will produce specific results or that the Service will be error-free or uninterrupted.
Important: Always use your judgment when cooking. Check for allergens, follow food safety guidelines, and consult a healthcare provider if you have dietary concerns.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Mom's Cookbook shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service.
11. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify registered users of significant changes via email. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Ontario.
