Simple Tomato Basil Pasta

Ingredients

  • 1 lb spaghetti
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 28 oz crushed tomatoes, canned
  • 1/2 cup fresh basil, chopped
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese, grated

Instructions

  1. Cook pasta according to package directions. Reserve 1 cup pasta water before draining. ( 10 min )
  2. While pasta cooks, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute. ( 1 min )
  4. Add crushed tomatoes and simmer. ( 15 min )
  5. Toss drained pasta with sauce, adding pasta water if needed to loosen.
  6. Stir in fresh basil and season with salt and pepper.
  7. Serve topped with grated parmesan.
